TREATMENT OF LAKE LINGANORE SCHEDULED FOR JULY 26, 2006
Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised that the City of Frederick will be applying 180 lbs. of copper sulfate to Lake Linganore and 4 lbs. to the Fishing Creek Reservoir, to treat taste and odor causing algae. The copper sulfate crystals will be diluted with water and the concentration of dissolved copper will be sprayed along the shorelines. The work will take place on July 26, 2006 at Lake Linganore from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon, and from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Fishing Creek Reservoir. Both the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and the Lake Linganore Association have been contacted and made aware that this work will be taking place.

IMPACT TO AREA:
We will have a boat on the water sources and will be applying the copper sulfate solution with a spray bar/wand. There should not be any impact to the public or livestock in the small dosage that we will be applying.
