WATER MAIN INSTALLATIONS ON JEFFERSON STREET THROUGH INTERSECTION OF SOUTH STREET

Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised that Mid-Atlantic Utilities, Inc. will continue the water main installations on Jefferson Street through the intersection of South Street.

Additionally, a second crew will begin the water services on phase 2, from Catoctin Ave. to South Street. Finally, a third crew will begin installing bypass piping on Jefferson Street between South Street and Patrick Street. A traffic detour will be in place between Catoctin Avenue and South Street for all northbound traffic on Jefferson Street. The intended detour route for all traffic heading north on Jefferson Street will be a left turn onto Catoctin Avenue to either South Street or Patrick Street. The southbound lane of Jefferson Street will remain open to normal traffic flow during Phase 2. The water main replacement will continue on Jefferson Street for approximately 4 months. Construction is scheduled for July 24, 2006 through July 28, 2006. Construction activity will be seen on Jefferson Street, between Prospect Blvd. And West Patrick Street through November 2006.

We regret any inconvenience that this may cause and thank you for your cooperation.
IMPACT TO AREA:

1. Traffic control devices such as traffic cones, signs and arrow boards will be used to limit traffic to one lane during the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
2. Temporary traffic detours will be installed on a daily basis, as needed, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During these temporary detours, only northbound traffic will be detoured on South Jefferson Street, between Catoctin Avenue and East South Street. The intended detour route for all traffic heading north on Jefferson Street will be a left turn onto Catoctin Ave. to either South Street or Patrick Street. The southbound lane of Jefferson Street will remain open to normal traffic flow during Phase 2.
3. Please exercise caution when driving or walking in the vicinity of the temporary bypass piping (blue pipe along street).
4. Please note that during the progress of this work, parking along the street is strongly discouraged. During non-working hours, miscellaneous equipment and materials will be stored within the parking lanes of the streets as necessary.
