RAILROAD EARTH TO PLAY IN BAKER PARK

The new grass band Railroad Earth will perform at the Baker Park Bandshell on
Sunday, July16th for Celebrate Frederick’s Summer Concert Series. The free performance will begin at 7 p.m.

Over the past few years Railroad Earth has carved a path wide and deep throughout the American roots music scene. They have been an undeniable force whose superb songwriting, singing and performances from the stage have made them one of the most talked about bands to arrive in years. Traveling nationally they have built a huge following of loyal fans that refer to themselves as “Hobos.” The band considers the “Hobos” to be the fuel that keeps this engine chugging along.

Plan to arrive early to enjoy a free Carillon performance in the park beginning at 6 p.m. featuring Edward Nassar, Carillonneur, The Washington Cathedral, Washington DC and The Netherlands Carillon, Arlington, Virginia. Great snack foods and drinks will be available from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the Concert Series performance.

While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the new Information Booth located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park. A special thank you to Drees Homes for this generous donation.

In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE or 103.1 WAFY for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by 4:00 PM. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time, listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.

This year’s programming would not be possible without the generous support of the following corporate sponsors: Spires level sponsors are Bechtel Foundation, CellularOne, Drees Homes, Sandy Spring Bank, Spectrum Federal Credit Union and Weis Markets. Carillon level sponsors are Adelphia, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Roy Rogers-A Plamondon Company, and The Frederick News-Post. Bandshell level sponsors are BB&T and the Frederick Arts Council.

The Summer Concert Series will continue each Sunday evening at 7 p.m. through August 27th. For a complete schedule, to volunteer, or for more information, call 301-600-CITY (2489) or visit www.BakerParkConcerts.com
