12 RED MAPLES TO BE RELOCATED FROM JUG BRIDGE PARK TO FOUR OTHER CITY PARKS
Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised that the City of Frederick’s Park and Recreation Department, with the assistance of Ruppert Nurseries, will begin the relocation effort of 12 Red Maple Trees from Jug Bridge Park to four other City parks as early as next week. The current placement of the trees in Jug Bridge Park breach the City’s Airport Obstruction Zone. Clerestory Park, Monocacy Village Park, Baker Park, and Valley Street Park will receive the trees. One other, Grove Park, has been designated as an alternate park if needed.
The relocation of the 12 maples will not leave Jug Bridge Park treeless. There are a number of dogwoods that will remain. According to Tom Rippeon, City of Frederick arborist, this is the ideal time to relocate these trees, prior to the budding season.
