JUNKYARD SAINTS TO PLAY IN BAKER PARK
Zydeco band, the Junkyard Saints, will perform at the Baker Park Bandshell on Sunday, August 13th as part of the Summer Concert Series presented by Drees Homes. The free performance will begin at 7 p.m. This is a performance not to be missed!
The Junkyard Saints is a DC/Baltimore based seven-piece band with full horn section performing it’s own brand of New Orleans-style party music, blending funk, swing, Latin, R&B, with a splash of zydeco to round out the mix. With regular college and independent airplay across the country, Junkyard Saints has played at some of the most notable venues and festivals in the country including the Kennedy Center, the Lincoln Center, Pier Six in Baltimore, as well as corporate events for HBO, Crayola, and Northrop-Grumman.
Plan to arrive early to enjoy a free Carillon performance in Baker Park beginning at 6 p.m. featuring Steven Ball, Carillonneur from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Great snack foods and drinks will be available from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the Concert Series performance.
While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. Items will be collected at the new Information Booth located at the top of the bandshell steps in Baker Park. A special thank you to Drees Homes for this generous donation.
In the event of inclement weather, please tune to 99.9 WFRE or 103.1 WAFY for news of event cancellation. Due to the travel time and set-up by various artists and the sound production company, decisions regarding weather are made by approx. 4:00 PM. Therefore, if the weather is inclement at this time, listen to the radio for confirmation of the evening’s performance being cancelled.
This year’s programming would not be possible without the generous support of the following corporate sponsors: Spires level sponsors are Bechtel Foundation, CellularOne, Drees Homes, Sandy Spring Bank, Spectrum Federal Credit Union and Weis Markets. Carillon level sponsors are Adelphia, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Roy Rogers-A Plamondon Company, and The Frederick News-Post. Bandshell level sponsors are BB&T and the Frederick Arts Council.
The Summer Concert Series will continue each Sunday evening at 7 p.m. through August 27th. For a complete schedule, to volunteer, or for more information, call 301-600-CITY (2489) or visit www.CelebrateFrederick.com
