WATER MAIN INSTALLATION ON MILITARY ROAD WEEK OF APRIL 10th

Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised that Mid-Atlantic Utilities, Inc. will begin the water main installation starting at 7 th Street during the week of April 10 th. On Monday, April 10 th a water main shut down is scheduled to allow for the installation of a new fire hydrant at intersection of 7 th Street. This hydrant will be used as a source for additional water to feed the bypass system and provide additional fire protection for the work area during construction. The water main replacement and associated work in this area will continue for approximately 4 months.

IMPACT TO AREA:

  1. Traffic control devices such as traffic cones, signs and arrow boards will be used to limit traffic to one lane during the hours of 7 a.m. – 5 p.m..
  2. Temporary traffic detours will be installed on a daily basis, as needed, from 6:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. During these temporary detours, only southbound traffic will be permitted on Military Road, between 7 th Street and Meade Ave. The intended detour route for northbound traffic on Military Road will be Meade Avenue to Lee Place to West 7th Street.
  • Please exercise caution when driving or walking in the vicinity of the temporary bypass piping (blue pipe along street).
  • Please note that during the progress of this work, parking along the street is strongly discouraged. During non-working hours, miscellaneous equipment and materials will be stored within the parking lanes of the streets as necessary.
