CITY’S CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER OF CITIZEN SERVICES RESIGNS

Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised that Mayor Jennifer P. Dougherty accepted Vincent Hughes, Chief Operations Officer of Citizens Services, resignation this morning. Hughes’ resignation will be effective Wednesday, November 30, 2005.
Hughes joined the City in May 2002. Throughout his tenure he has had management and leadership responsibility for the following City Departments: Parks and Recreation, Clustered Spires Golf Course, Grounds Maintenance, Office of Special Events, The Weinberg Center for the Arts, Inc., Frederick Community Action Agency, and Economic Development.
Hughes is leaving to form a start-up healthcare company.
“Starting a new venture - and all the details that go along with a new venture, forming partnerships, working out logistics, and marketing a start-up company is incredibly exciting,” Hughes stated. “I’m very fortunate to have spent a decade serving Maryland Communities. I will draw upon my experiences, and the many creative professionals I have encountered, to help make my start-up a success.”
Mayor Dougherty commented, “Vinny Hughes has been a consummate professional and creative thinker. He has been a great asset to my team; a huge help in addressing neighborhood issues and the City is better for having had Vinny working here.” She added, “I know he has big plans and I can’t wait to see the next great things that he gets to do!”
