PREPARATION ON FAIRVIEW AVENUE AND KLINE BLVD. BEGINS FOR SPEED HUMP AND
ROUNDABOUT INSTALLATIONS
Frederick, Md. --- The residents on Fairview Avenue and Kline Boulevard thought that excessive speed was a neighborhood problem that required a solution. The residents of those two streets joined together and submitted a petition to the City requesting some form of traffic calming. As a result of that petition, Fairview Avenue and Kline Boulevard will be receiving speed humps and a roundabout by years end. Beginning on Monday, October 31, the City of Frederick’s Street Maintenance Department will begin the milling of asphalt on Fairview Avenue and Kline Boulevard in preparation for the installation of a total of seven speed humps. Once the milling is completed a base layer of asphalt followed by a topping layer will be installed. The City’s traffic calming plan for this section of the Westbrook subdivision also calls for the installation of one roundabout (or circle) at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Mercer Street. A roundabout is a circular raised island in the middle of the intersection designed to slow down the traffic. The roundabout will be clearly marked and well delineated.
It is anticipated that this work will be completed by Thursday, November 10, 2005, weather permitting.
We apologize for any inconvenience this street work may have on you. Thank you for your cooperation!
