LATE ABSENTEE VOTING PROCEDURES

Voters who missed the October 25 mailing deadline to apply for an absentee ballot for the City of Frederick General Election on November 1 may still apply in person for a late ballot.

Voters who are unable to vote in person on General Election day may come to the Elections office in Frederick for a late absentee ballot. The office will be open on weekdays for absentee voting between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Anyone not able to appear in person to pick up an application may designate someone as their agent to obtain the application. The agent must be a registered voter in the City of Frederick or Frederick County. The agent must deliver the application to the voter, and return the completed application to the Elections office in order to receive an absentee ballot. The agent then must deliver the ballot to the voter and return the voted ballot to the Elections office no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day. Any registered voter who is unable to get to the polls because of illness or accident, a death or serious illness in the person’s immediate family, or is required to be absent from Frederick City on the day of the election for any reason may vote by absentee ballot.

The Elections office is located in the basement of Winchester Hall, 12 E. Church Street, Frederick.

For more information, call the Board of Elections at 301-600-1005 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or visit the City’s web site at www.cityoffrederick.com/election
