STREET LIGHT UPGRADES IN CITY OF FREDERICK’S WESTBROOK SUBDIVISION

Frederick, Md. --- On March 9, 2005, the Mayor and Board of Alderman of the City of Frederick approved the funding for streetlight upgrades in the Westbrook Subdivision. These upgrades are part of a City-wide capital improvement project that allows the City's Street Light and Traffic Control Department to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of aged lighting circuits.

Construction will commence on or after April 25, 2005 and the anticipated completion date for this project is October 31, 2005. The City will segment the overall construction project into several phases in an effort to maintain lighting on one side of each street at all times during the construction.

During construction, this effort will affect residents as follows: 1) streetlights in specific project areas will be partially- or wholly inoperable for a short duration (45-90 days), and 2) installation of underground conduits and new pole bases will disturb the ground between the curb and sidewalk in front of some residences.

Streets to be affected by the street light upgrades include: Fairview Avenue, Kline Blvd., Carroll Parkway, and Mercer Place.

For additional questions please contact William Scheetz, City of Frederick Street and Traffic Control Superintendent, at 301-600-1167.
