City of Frederick to Host Community Meeting on Carroll Creek Park
The City of Frederick Department of Economic Development will host a community meeting regarding Carroll Creek Park construction on Tuesday March 29, 2005 from 7-8pm at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center (40 South Carroll Street in Downtown Frederick).
With construction on Carroll Creek Park construction set to begin this month, the City would like to take an opportunity to inform the community of the construction timeline and to answer any questions residents, businesses and property owners may have about the project or impacts in the area. As part of this project, construction fencing will be installed the week of March 21, 2005 around portions of the park between Court and East Streets. Construction fencing will be located at the entrances to Carroll Creek Park at South Court, South Market, South Carroll and South East Streets. Access to the park between Court Street and East Street will be closed to the public for the duration of the park construction, scheduled for completion in the spring of 2006.
The City is excited about this $10.2 million Carroll Creek Park project in downtown Frederick, which includes pedestrian pathways, water features, planters, an amphitheater and 5 handicap-accessible crosswalks at the road intersections. In addition to the public park improvements, more than $30 million of private investment along the creek will provide additional housing, office and retail opportunities in downtown. The completion of this first section of Carroll Creek Park will be an incredible asset to both the residents and businesses of the community.
