City of Frederick Announces Carroll Creek Park Construction

The City of Frederick is pleased to announce the start of construction on Carroll Creek Park. As part of this project, construction fencing will be installed the week of March 21, 2005 around portions of the park between Court and East Streets. Construction fencing will be located at the entrances to Carroll Creek Park at South Court, South Market, South Carroll and South East Streets. Access to the park between Court Street and East Street will be closed to the public for the duration of the park construction, scheduled for completion in the spring of 2006.

Please pardon our dust during this time, as well as any inconvenience the park closure may bring. During construction, there are several open space areas available to the community for recreation in downtown, including the Thomas Pool, Baker Park, Diggs Pool, East Third Street Park and Mullinix Park. These City-maintained parks are always open and available for the community’s use (seasonal availability may apply). The City is excited about this $10.2 million Carroll Creek Park project in downtown Frederick, which includes pedestrian pathways, water features, planters, an amphitheater and 5 handicap-accessible crosswalks at the road intersections. In addition to the public park improvements, more than $30 million of private investment along the creek will provide additional housing, office and retail opportunities in downtown. The completion of this first section of Carroll Creek Park will be an incredible asset to both the residents and businesses of the community.
