FREDERICK’S 4th - AN INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Mayor Jennifer Dougherty, and Aldermen Marcia Hall and Donna Ramsburg have agreed to take a dunk, for a good cause! The three are among the local notables who will participate in the dunk tank as Celebrate Frederick Inc. presents this year’s Frederick’s 4th - An Independence Day Celebration on Monday, July 4th in Baker Park. Proceeds will go to the Frederick’s 4th committee and the Frederick Police Department’s Police Activities League.

The dunk tank is just one of several new activities in an event that includes more music than ever, including “American Idol” finalist Josh Gracin. Plus you’ll find a lot more children’s activities and amusements, great food and incredible fireworks that make this event one of the year’s best!

The following is the day’s schedule (subject to change):

Opening Ceremony
Noon - bandshell

Afternoon Activities
Carillon Area
12:30 - 5:30 p.m. - Children’s activities and amusements including Jurassic Adventureland, Survivor Jr. obstacle course, Wave of Fire slide, Turbo Tubs, carousel, misting arch, train ride, two moon bounces, crafts, clowns, pony rides and a petting zoo, dunk tank, remote control cars, martial arts demonstration, and the peanut butter and jelly tent.

Fleming Avenue Area
8:30 a.m. - Chili Cook-off begins. Judging will be held at 2:30 p.m.
12:30 - 8 p.m. - Swimming at Edward P. Thomas Jr. Pool
1:30 p.m. - Pie eating contest

Culler Lake Area
7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Volleyball tournament - register at FREDERICKvbc@hotmail.com
Noon - 10 p.m. - Canoes, paddle boats and Kiwi kayaks on Culler Lake
Noon - 9 pm. - Rock Climbing Wall
Noon - 8 p.m. - Military Vehicles and Pull up Bar

Summerjam Stage area
Noon - 6:30 p.m. - Twister and Jump Shot Basketball

Evening Activities
5:15 p.m. - Best Patriotic Dressed Competition - register at the Gazebo
6:15 - 8:15 p.m. - Music in the bandshell
9:15 p.m. (approx.) - Fireworks display
9:45 p.m. (approx.) - Carillon concert

Frederick County Transit will provide FREE shuttle bus service from two locations this year. The first runs from the Thomas Johnson High School parking lot to the corner of Bentz and Second Streets. The second runs from Harry Grove Stadium to the corner of Bentz and Second Streets. The shuttle buses are handicap accessible. The shuttle service will leave Thomas Johnson High School every ½ hour beginning at 11:30 a.m. The last bus back to the school will leave Baker Park at 10:30 p.m. A second bus will follow this route beginning at 4:15 p.m. It will make its final run from Baker Park at 10:45 p.m. The service from Harry Grove Stadium will leave every ½ hour beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the last shuttle leaving Baker Park at 10:30 p.m.
