MAYOR DOUGHERTY DECLARES JUNE HOMEOWNERSHIP MONTH

Frederick, Md. --- In recognition of June being Homeownership Month City of Frederick Mayor Jennifer P. Dougherty proclaimed the City of Frederick hereby recognizes the importance of providing citizens with the opportunity to own their own home. Quoting from the Proclamation, Mayor Dougherty stated “Homeownership also serves as an engine of social mobility and a pathway to prosperity ensuring a path to self-sufficiency that provides families with stability and security…”

At the June 8th Mayor and Board of Aldermen Workshop Mayor Dougherty presented the Proclamation of HOMEOWNERSHIP MONTH to the Department of Community Development for their dedication to promoting homeownership through the use of program funds of Direct Homeownership Assistance. The City of Frederick’s Sold on Frederick II, a first time homebuyer program served 5 citizen in the in Fiscal year 2004 -2005 become homeowners in the City of Frederick.

Mayor Dougherty and Board of Aldermen presented the Proclamation to Housing Programs Financial Specialist, Eileen Barnhard.
