BLUE ACES TO FLY INTO BAKER PARK
The Blue Aces will fly into Baker Park on Sunday, June 26th, bringing great pop sounds to the bandshell. Celebrate Frederick Inc. will present the group as part of this year’s Summer Concert Series. The free concert begins at 7 p.m.
Part of the world-famous United States Air Force Heritage of America Band, the Blue Aces never fail to delight and entertain. Based at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, the band has played for international dignitaries, as well as throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The multi-talented members of this premier group put on a fast-paced show featuring a broad palette of musical styles.
Plan to arrive early to enjoy guest Carillonneur Gordon Slater in concert at 6 p.m. He is the Dominion Carillonneur of Canada, and regularly plays the Peace Tower Carillon at the Canadian Houses of Parliament in Ottawa in a regular recital series and for the special needs of the parliamentarians. In addition, Slater has given recitals around the world, and has made several recordings of carillon music.
While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission to each performance. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank. The 2005 Summer Concert Series is a sub-committee of Celebrate Frederick, which is supported financially by the following community-minded businesses: Gold Sponsors - Bechtel Foundation, Chase Credit Card Services, Cellular One, Drees Homes, Sandy Spring Bank, and Weis Markets; Silver Sponsors - Adelphia, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Farmers and Mechanics Bank, Frederick News-Post and Spectrum Federal Credit Union; Bronze Sponsors - BB&T, CitiMortgage and the Frederick Arts Council.
