CALLING ALL PRINCE CHARMINGS AND CINDERELLAS…
FAIRY TALES COME TRUE IN BAKER PARK
Come to Baker Park on Saturday, June 18th dressed as your favorite fairy tale character and meet Princess Fiona, Donkey and your favorite lovable green ogre, Shrek. We hope to see little Princesses, Prince Charmings and even Robin Hoods fill the park as Celebrate Frederick presents Summer Nite Cinema! PG rated movie 'Shrek' will be shown on the big screen beginning at approximately 9pm in the grassy field near the carillon. Grab your whole family, blankets or lawn chairs, and come as early as 7pm to get a great seat and enjoy delicious food.
The fun starts at 7pm with a pre-movie party in the bandshell, which will be transformed into Duloc Castle. A live DJ will rock the night away and prizes will be given to the best-dressed fairy tale character! Participants will be judged in the following categories - ages 9 and under, ages 10-14 and ages 15 and older. Prizes include gift certificates from Dancing Bear Toys & Gifts, City of Frederick Pool Passes, and gift certificates from Roy Roger’s Restaurant. Key 103.1 will also be in the park hosting live activities and trivia contests, so brush-up on your fairy tale trivia! Stop by the information booth to pick up some great prizes from the Frederick News-Post and vote for the next Summer Nite Cinema movie planned for September 17th.
Donna Kuzemchak Ramsburg, City of Frederick Alderman, will be in Duloc Castle reading ‘fractured fairy tales’ to the children at approximately 7:30pm, 8pm and 8:30pm. One of the stories, titled Falling for Rapunzel, is a hilarious take of how misunderstandings can lead to “happily ever after.”
Don’t forget your favorite cozy sweatshirt, the evening air may get a little chilly.
In lieu of admission, Summer Nite Cinema is asking those to bring a canned food item to benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank.
Celebrate Frederick would like to thank the following community-minded businesses that make this programming possible - Adelphia, Coca Cola, Frederick News-Post, Key 103.1 and the City of Frederick.
The rain date for the event is Saturday, June 25th. For more information, please call The City of Frederick Office of Special Events at 301-228-2844 or visit www.CelebrateFrederick.com <http://www.CelebrateFrederick.com>. Schedule is subject to change.
