Traffic, gate changes coming to Fort Detrick on Aug. 1
Traffic coming into the 7th Street Gate will be reduced to one lane starting Aug. 1 to facilitate construction of the new gate.
Motorists entering the post via the 7th St. gate should expect traffic delays during this period while the new gate is under construction. To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to use other gates during the construction period.
In early September the main gate will be closed for five days to allow workers to finish the new gate project. The closing is expected to start Sept. 6 and last through Sept. 12.
While the 7th Street Gate is closed, hours at the other gates for both inbound and outbound traffic will also change.
Old Farm Gate
Old Farm Gate will serve as the installation's 24-hour main access control gate. It will be open seven days a week including holidays, from Sept. 6 through Sept. 12. Dates may change depending on the progress of completing the 7th Street Gate, while visitors and commercial trucks will continue to use the Old Farm Gate entrance.
Rosemont and Opossumtown Gates
To avoid delays, DoD-decaled vehicles should use Rosemont Avenue or Opossumtown Gates. They will continue to serve as the primary access points for DoD-decaled vehicles from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gates will not be open on weekends and holidays.
Expect delays
To offset potential delays, the Fort Detrick Provost Marshal Office will increase manpower on both gates, provide fliers detailing gate access and place directional signs off post.
During this period the Fort Detrick Provost Marshal Office is asking all commuters to use the gate closest to your destination and to allow additional time for entering and exiting the post.
