PRESS CONFERENCE SET FOR NEXT WEEK
TO ANNOUNCE A DONATION TO CITY
THAT WILL BENEFIT THE PARK SYSTEM

Frederick, Md. --- The City of Frederick will be holding a press conference at Husky Park on Wednesday, July 13, 11 a.m., to announce plans to utilize a generous donation of 10,000 seedlings from Structural Systems Inc. The City of Frederick will utilize the seedlings at multiple City parks including; Clerestory Park and Husky Park. Conceptual plans will be unveiled at the press conference.

Structural Systems Inc., founded by Bruce Gordon, has been in continuous operation in Frederick County since 1968. Structural Systems Inc. is capable of providing the generous donation because of a solid partnership with Weyerhaeuser Corp. Structural Systems Inc. has grown into one of the largest manufactures of structural wood manufactures of structural wood building components and distribution of engineered wood products including windows and doors in the mid-Atlantic region.

Mayor Jennifer P. Dougherty commented on the method that Structural Systems Inc. choose to use regarding this unique donation, “ I hope the generosity of Structural Systems plants a seed with other companies. The thought of committing their employees to a true community project is quite refreshing. Structural Systems, along with Weyerhauser, have stepped forward to do this project to leave a legacy and improve the environment, it's quite selfless.”

She added, “The company president, Bruce Gordon, is a no-nonsense leader who likes to get things done and wants his employees to realize the importance of making a positive contribution. He's a great role model for corporate leaders in our community. He could write a check, but this initiative touches more people and makes a bigger mark on the community. I truly appreciate his generosity.”
