FCAA MOBILE FOOD BANK
The Frederick Community Action Agency (FCAA) is operating a Mobile Food Bank in the City of Frederick. The FCAA currently operates a Food Bank in downtown Frederick that serves approximately 300 to 400 households each month, but has found that many families are unable to obtain transportation to the downtown location. The Mobile Food Bank is available to those experiencing an economic crisis
as well as those who simply need assistance making ends meet. Over the past seven months the Mobile Food Bank has served over 100 families, providing a free three to five day supply of food to both individuals and families.
The Mobile Food Bank will be located at the following locations and times on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month:
Frederick Heights Swimming Pool (Hillcrest Drive) 9:30 - 11:30 am
Centro de Familia (Thomas Johnson Drive) 1:30-3:00 pm
Waverly Elementary School (Waverly Drive) 4:00 - 5:30 pm
Miranda Morais, who staffs the Mobile Food Bank, is a native of Nicaragua and is fluent in Spanish. She states that many of those using the Mobile Food Bank are thankful to find a Spanish speaker there. "I understand the barriers those who are new to this community are facing. I understand what not having enough food for your children feels like and also just how scary it can be to ask for help," says Ms. Morais.
