Electrical Board
Seeking full member to serve term of three years. This individual must be representative from the building trade industry who actively does work within the City of Frederick. Ethics Commission
Seeking full member to serve a term of three years. The Ethics Commission convenes on an as-needed basis. The role of the Ethics Commission is devise, receive, and maintain all forms generated by the Ethics chapter of the City Charter. Commission members provide opinions to persons subject to the chapter and processes and make determinations as to complaints alleging violations of the Ethics Chapter. Members of this committee are also responsible for conducting public information programs regarding the purposes of the Ethics Chapter, as well as to reviews all bids on any city contract submitted by any city official or employee, or by any business in which either is interested. Fair Housing Commission
Seeking one full member to serve a tern of three years. The Fair Housing Commission convenes bi-monthly. The Housing Discrimination Ordinance established the Fair Housing Commission to investigate complaints of discriminatory practices in housing and to educate and inform the public on their rights to Fair Housing. Historic District Commission
Seeking an alternate member to serve a term of three years. The Historic District Commission convenes two or more times each month. Responsibilities of this commission include reviewing and making considerations of any application for any type of construction, alteration, reconstruction, moving, or demolition on any structure within the historic district. Labor Relations Panel (Police Department)
The Labor Relations Panel is seeking individuals will hear evidence and make written findings concerning grievances filed by The City of Frederick Police Officers. The Labor Relations Panel shall be a five (5)-member panel. The members of the Labor Relations Panel shall be appointed as follows: two (2) members shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen; two (2) members shall be appointed by the FOP; and one (1) member shall be appointed by agreement of the City and the FOP from a list of citizens who have requested to serve on labor relations panels. The list of citizens shall be compiled and maintained through public advertising and all citizens submitting a letter of interest and a resume shall be included on the list. Each member of the panel shall be a City of Frederick resident, own property in the City or operate a business on his or her primary employment with a business located in the City and shall be a registered voter. Members’ terms shall be the length of the FOP Agreement, which is less than one year expiring June 30, 2006. Planning Commission
Seeking full member to serve a term of five years. The Planning Commission convenes three to five times each month. The City is also seeking a resident to serve as an alternate for the Planning Commission. This group is responsible for developing and amending a master plan for the physical development of the City. They exercise control over subdividing the city and drafts official maps. They also prepare and adopt a zoning plan and recommend or disapprove proposed changes to that plan. The Planning Commission is also responsible for the annual submission of a list of recommended capital improvements for the budget year.
