TWO NEW YOUTH PROGRAMS BEING
OFFERED THROUGH THE CITY
Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised of two new programs being offered through the City of Frederick’s Department of Recreation:
The first new program that will begin this month is a six-week art program for youth titled Meet the Masters. This program will begin on Saturday, February 19th, at the Wm. Talley Recreation Center. There will be two classes based upon age. Children ages 6 - 8 years of age will meet from 2:00 - 3:00 pm. and ages 9 - 12 will meet from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. The class runs from February 19th - April 2nd. Participants will learn about the following Masters and then create an interpretation of their style in their own art project for the week: Leonardo DaVinci, Rembrandt, Claude Monet, Vincent VanGough, Georges Sueurat and Henri Matisse. Participants will work with the following art tools: drawing (pencil and charcoal), watercolors, collage and tempera paints.
The second new class is a Youth Strength Training, which will feature nutrition awareness, and safe and effective weight training for youth ages 12 - 15 years of age. This 6-week course will be held on Sundays at the Wm. Talley Recreation Center from 4 - 4:45 p.m., beginning on February 13th. Cost for the program is $15 for City residents and $30 for non-City residents. Class will be limited to a maximum of 10 participants.
