RE: Tickets go on sale for Celebrate Frederick fundraiser

TICKETS ON SALE FOR
CELEBRATE FREDERICK PRESENTS…A FUN-RAISER

Tickets are on sale for Celebrate Frederick Presents… A Fun-raiser, featuring regional blues and boogie favorite Deanna Bogart. The concert will be held at the Weinberg Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, April 2nd. Local rock band The Cool Jerks will be the opening act for the show, which starts at 8 p.m.
Proceeds from the concert will go to Celebrate Frederick, the nonprofit organization that partners with the City of Frederick to plan and produce several annual local events, including the Summer Concert Series, Frederick’s 4th of July Celebration, and IN THE STREET.
Bogart always promises a good time. Described as “an extravagant entertainer,” and a “ray of sunshine that never loses energy or impact,” the blues and boogie pianist/saxophonist combines the energy of 1930’s style boogie with contemporary blues sounds. Bogart and her band have been together for nearly a decade, playing with such musical powerhouses as BB King, Ray Charles, and James Brown, and winning no less than 20 Washington Area Music Awards while touring the U.S. and overseas. Local fans have seen her in Baker Park at the Summer Concert Series, and at IN THE STREET.
Another Summer Concert Series veteran, Frederick’s own high energy R&B band The Cool Jerks has been together for over 20 years. In fact, you might recognize father and son saxophone players Al and Troy Remsburg. Joining them are John Sharrer, Andy Chrisler, Don Schattenberg, Mike Sheer, Bill Gentry, Wayne Ausherman, Steve Kemp and Kenny Fischer. The Cool Jerks’ impromptu style of music keeps the energy alive among band members and fans thrive upon their unpredictability. Audiences never seem to want the band to quit!
Tickets prices are $30, $27, and $24, and can be purchased at the Weinberg Center, by calling the box office at 301-228-2828, or online at www.WeinbergCenter.org. For more information about the show, or Celebrate Frederick, call the City of Frederick’s Office of Special Events at 301-228-2844, or visit www.CelebrateFrederick.com.
