CITY ALLOCATES ADDITIONAL 200,710 GPD RESULTING FROM MDE CONSENSUS OF LEAK DETECTION PROGRAM

Frederick, Md. --- For the second time in less than one year the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) has concurred with City staff that the City of Frederick has additional allocable water resulting from the Leak Detection Program.

The allocable 200,710 gpd is in compliance with the City’s Consent Order by MDE dated June 28, 2002.

The water will be allocated in conformance with the City of Frederick’s adopted Water Allocation Ordinance and Administrative Guidelines. The following is the breakdown for allocation:

Residential (45%) 90,320 gpd **
Avg. 250 gpd/unit = 366 approx. units

Commercial/Industrial (30%) 60,212 gpd **

Discretionary (25%) 50,178 gpd **

Claims of Entitlement
(25% of Discretionary) 12,548 gpd **

Business Retention & Development, Government Projects, Emergency Exemptions,
Institutional and Infill (15% of Discretionary) 7,526 gpd each **
** The allocation estimates listed above are for informational purposes. Actual allocations may differ slightly.

Projects that will receive water based on this additional 200,710 gpd of allocable water were announced at a special meeting of the Water Service Committee that took place this morning. The order of allocations is listed on the City’s website at www.cityoffrederick.com.
