WEST PATRICK STREET ROAD WORK CONTINUES
Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised that Mid-Atlantic Utilities, Inc. will continue the installation of the new 16” water main on West Patrick Street. The remaining work is located in the intersection of W. Patrick Street and Bentz Street. Work that will continue to take place includes: lane closures on both W. Patrick Street and Bentz Street, as well as coordinating necessary water main “shut-downs” required for the final connections with Department of Public Works. Also during this time, crews will be installing water main piping within the intersection of Bentz St. and performing three separate “tie-ins” to the existing water system. The water main “shut-downs” for these “tie-ins” will cause temporary interruptions to water services for approximately one block North, South and West of the intersection.
Mid-Atlantic is anticipating that some of the work within the Bentz St. intersection will be completed at night (approx. 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.). Construction activity will be seen on W. Patrick St., between Court St. and Bentz St., through the end of February 2005.
The following impact will be felt in the area:
1. “No Parking” signs will be posted at the intersection W. Patrick Street and Bentz Street. Parking will not be permitted at any time within the areas posted.
2. Traffic control devices such as traffic cones, signs and arrow boards will be used to limit traffic to one lane from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
3. Temporary traffic detours will be installed on a daily basis, as needed, from 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. During these temporary detours, only local traffic and deliveries will be permitted on West Patrick St. between Market St. and Bentz St.
4. During night work operations, residents should anticipate normal, construction equipment noise levels from backhoes, dump trucks, compaction equipment, etc. Mid-Atlantic is anticipating that the night work required to install the piping in the intersection of W. Patrick St. and Bentz St. will take 2 or 3 nights (approximately 8 hrs per night).
5. Please exercise caution when driving or walking in the vicinity of the temporary bypass piping (blue pipe along street).
We apologize for any inconvenience this street work may have on you. Thank you for your cooperation!
