SCENTS & SWEETS WINNERS ANNOUNCED

During the annual Scents & Sweets Competition held on Wednesday, November 30th, at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, professionals and amateurs competed for the most appealing floral centerpiece and creatively designed gingerbread structure. Winners were chosen by a panel of judges in five categories and all were awarded cash prizes. Over 300 spectators attended the event and were asked to vote for their favorites in a special category honored as ‘Peoples Choice.’ Judges also honored a “Best in Show” winner within the Gingerbread Amateur category. Following is a listing of this year’s winners:

PROFESSIONAL FLORAL:

1ST - Amy Gilbert

2ND - Adrienne Summers

PEOPLES CHOICE – Lori Himes

AMATEUR FLORAL:

1 ST & PEOPLES CHOICE – Mary Morgan

2ND – Susan Boller

PROFESSIONAL GINGERBREAD:

1ST – Denise McMahon

2ND & PEOPLES CHOICE – Mary Elliott

AMATEUR GINGERBREAD:

1ST & BEST IN SHOW & PEOPLES CHOICE – Sarah Lucas

2ND – Meg Griffin

GINGERBREAD – CHILDREN’S GROUP:

1ST & PEOPLES CHOICE – Cortney & Corey St. John

2ND – G.S. Troop 1133

The Holiday Committee of Historic Frederick and The City of Frederick Office of Special Events congratulate the winners and thank everyone who participated in this prestigious and unique competition.
