ECLECTIC TRIO GROOVELILY TO PLAY SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
New York City trio Groovelily will bring their unique blend of musical styles to Baker Park on Sunday, August 28th. Celebrate Frederick will present the free concert as part of this year’s Summer Concert Series. The performance will begin at 7 p.m. and will be the last concert performance of the summer.
With backgrounds in classical, jazz, and rock music, as well as musical theater, Groovelily combines the sounds of a six-string violin with vocals, keyboards, and drums to create intelligent and original musical textures. The group was founded over a decade ago by violinist/vocalist Valerie Vigoda, and has performed anything from rock music to musical theater. Groovelily has shared stages with artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Joe Jackson, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and has recently worked on productions with a Tony award winning musical theater team.
Plan to arrive early to enjoy a free performance in Baker Park by carillonneur James Smith at 6 p.m. James is the University Carillonneur at Mercersburg Academy in southern central Pennsylvania and recently retired as the academy’s Director of Music. He has made annual appearances in the Metro region, including performances at the Netherlands Carillon in Arlington, VA.
