Community Bridge to be Closed During Carroll Creek Park Construction

The City of Frederick is pleased to announce the start of construction on Carroll Creek Park. Construction fencing was installed the week of March 21, 2005 around portions of the park between Court and East Streets. Access to the park between Court Street and East Street will be closed to the public for the duration of the park construction, scheduled for completion in the spring of 2006.

As a result, access to Community Bridge will not be available for the yearlong duration of the construction. The City apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause to tours groups and other visitors to Community Bridge. The City encourages visitors to view Community Bridge after construction to enjoy the park improvements and paving enhancements around the bridge and throughout Carroll Creek Park.

The City is excited about this $10.2 million Carroll Creek Park project in downtown Frederick, which includes pedestrian pathways, water features, planters, an amphitheater and crosswalks at the road intersections. In addition to the public park improvements, more than $30 million of private investment along the creek will provide additional housing, office and retail opportunities in downtown. The completion of this first section of Carroll Creek Park will be an incredible asset to both the residents and businesses of the community. For more information on Carroll Creek Park, please visit the City website at www.cityoffrederick.com or call the Department of Economic Development at 240-629-6360.
