Fort Detrick to test Emergency Alert Siren System
FORT DETRICK, MD-Fort Detrick will test its Emergency Alert Siren System on Thurs, Nov. 4, between 2 and 3 p.m.During this time there will be live public address announcements, radio broadcasts, bugle calls and sirens initiated on post. This testing is necessary to determine operational capability of the system and appropriate volume levels, so some tests may be repeated. Testing will occur at intermittent intervals as adjustments are made to minimize the sound carrying beyond Fort Detrick.The purpose of this system is to provide an immediate warning to members of the Fort Detrick community in the event of severe weather or other emergencies occurring in the area. There are currently six sirens installed in key locations throughout the installation.
