WEEKEND FULL OF FUN FOR THE KIDS
Packed full of exciting activities for the kids, Children’s Weekend is set for Saturday, December 11th and Sunday, December 12th in downtown Frederick. Many of the activities are FREE! Following is the schedule for this two-day event:
Saturday, December 11
9:00 AM: Kids will enjoy Breakfast with Santa at Isabella’s restaurant located at 44 N. Market Street. Tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children. Please call 301-698-8922, as reservations are required. Join in the fun as Santa collects your child’s wish list!
10:00 AM - 9:00 PM: Enjoy a Holiday Market for Kids at Dancing Bear Toys and Gifts on 12 N. Market Street. Choose from a variety of gifts, all under $5, for parents, teachers, siblings and friends. For more information call 301-631-9300.
10:30 AM: Come to C. Burr Artz Library on 110 E. Patrick Street and participate in Belsnickling. Children will spend the morning making a mask to wear while parading around town! This FREE activity includes light refreshments.
2:00 PM: Enjoy a FREE live performance of “Pigs at the Pole” by the Blue Sky Puppet Theatre at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center located at 40 South Carroll Street. Follow along for the fun as Three (not so) Little Pigs help Santa save Christmas! Get in the Holiday spirit before the performance with opener Singing Hands Choir. Ticket vouchers are available Monday through Friday, 9-5pm, at the City of Frederick Office of Special Events, William Talley Recreation Center, 121 N. Bentz Street. Limited seating. 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM (in the City) and Noon - 5:00 PM (in the County): Encounter holiday traditions of yesteryear at 21 historic sites and museums of Frederick County during the Museums by Candlelight Tour. This FREE self-guided tour includes hands-on activities for families and children. Program guides available at the Tourism Council, 19 E. Church Street. For more information call 301-228-2888.
Sunday, December 12
9:30 and 10:30 AM: Children will be treated to two FREE ornament painting workshops at I Made This! pottery located at Everedy Square. Session one at 9:30 AM is for children seven and younger. Session two is at 10:30 AM, and is for kids eight and older. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 301-624-4030.
2:00 - 2:30 PM: Kids can enjoy FREE storytelling with Kathleen Rudesill at theC. Burr Artz Library located at 110 E. Patrick Street. A selection of Holiday stories sure to capture the imaginations of child and parent will be featured.
All Weekend
Holiday Art Show - Frederick Towne Mall on the Golden Mile
Frederick County elementary school students get the chance to display their interpretations of “Holiday Fun in Frederick” at the Holiday Art Show. This display will remain until the end of December, delighting shoppers throughout the Holiday season. FREE!
Frederick County Society of Model Railroad Engineers Open House
1:00 - 4:00 PM, located at 423-A E. Patrick Street.
No holiday celebration is complete without a model railroad display, and this one is truly fantastic! FREE!
