COME OUT AND ENJOY SCENTS & SWEETS

The holidays bring out the creativity in all of us, so why not let the gingerbread houses and floral arrangements at this year’s Scents & Sweets competition inspire you? This year’s event will be held Wednesday, December 1st from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center. There you’ll find holiday scenes you won’t believe are made out of gingerbread, and incredible combinations of fragrant flowers you’ll want for your dining table.

This event began in 1998 as a way to showcase local creative talent on both professional and amateur levels. This year a panel of judges will pick this year’s winners in both the gingerbread and floral arrangement categories. Cash prizes are awarded for first, second and third place in each category. Winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m.

Past floral arrangements have featured holiday items such as candy canes and gingerbread men. In the gingerbread category, structures are not limited to the typical house. Last year there was an entire castle that was edible!
