Frederick, Md. ---Please see information below provided by Robin Santangelo with Frederick County. A vehicle accident involving a truck carrying 1,500 gallons of gasoline occurred on Rt. 15 just south of West Patrick Street at 10:19 a.m. this morning. Fire/rescue, emergency medical, law enforcement, transportation and hazardous materials personnel from the State of Maryland and Frederick County agencies were alerted. On arrival they found that the driver had potentially serious injuries and was transported via MD State Police helicopter to Washington County Hospital. A vacuum truck is en route from Baltimore to offload the product so the vehicle can be uprighted. Estimated time for full recovery is 2-3 hours. Traffic flow will be significantly impacted during that time.
At this point traffic is flowing on one lane northbound on Rt. 15 and is being rerouted southbound at Rosemont Avenue. No evacuations are currently necessary.
