CITYS
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW AND COMMENT
Frederick,
Md. --- After 18 months and over 150 public meetings,
The City of Fredericks Planning Department is
pleased to announce that the draft version of the Comprehensive
Plan for The City of Frederick is now available for
review and comment. The plan can be reviewed at City
Hall, C. Burr Artz Library and on the Citys website,
www.cityoffrederick.com.
The
Comprehensive Plan is a guide for the City's growth
and development policies and a tool to enhance Frederick's
livability and unique character. Why is called a comprehensive
plan? Because it deals with almost every area over which
the City government has control: Streets, local transportation,
zoning, land use, parks, economic development, development
and growth, housing, and social services. Almost everything
that affects the lives of City residents except County
services such as the school system, fire & rescue,
and library is covered by the Comprehensive Plan.
Since
1995, which is when the Comprehensive Plan was last
updated, more than 7,000 new people have moved within
the city limits, almost 4,000 new dwellings have been
built, and hundreds of new jobs have been added.
For
further information on the comprehensive plan process,
please contact the Joe Adkins, division chief of comprehensive
planning at 301-600-1655.
