VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED FOR THE FCAA TRANSITIONAL SHELTER
The
Frederick Community Action Agency (FCAA) is seeking
volunteers to assist with the on-going operation of
its Transitional Shelter that serves homeless families
and physically disabled adults. Volunteers are needed
to assist with a variety of activities including desk
coverage in the transitional shelter; providing on-site
babysitting services while parents attend meetings or
training sessions; helping to maintain flowerbeds outside
the transitional shelter; and helping with small maintenance
and repair projects inside the shelter. Typically, volunteers
provide 2 to 10 hours of service a month. All prospective
volunteers will be interviewed and orientation and ongoing
training will be provided. For more information or to
arrange an interview, please contact Todd Johnson at
301-600-1506 or by e-mail at tjohnson@cityoffrederick.com.
Through
a wide array of programs and services, the Frederick
Community Action Agency (FCAA) provides food, shelter,
medical care, housing, transportation and other forms
of assistance to families and individuals who are low-income
or homeless. The FCAA has been in continuous operation
since 1968 and has operated a transitional shelter program
since 1994.
