YOUTH ENVIRONMENTAL CITIZENS ACADEMY
Frederick,
Md. --- The City of Frederick has partnered with Volunteer
Frederick to present the first Youth Environmental Citizens
Academy. This new initiative engages high school youth
to participate in a four-day project of civic engagement
and service learning. During this interactive program
youth will receive an orientation to City government
and different key departments, through one-on-one orientations
with elected officials, chiefs, and directors. They
will also develop an understanding of environmental
issues that exist in their community with cooperation
of local environmental agencies as well as participate
in service projects relating to environmental awareness.
The
Youth Environmental Citizens Academy will be held this
summer in two four-day sessions. Week I will take place
from July 6th-9th and Week II from July 12th-15th. Registration
is limited to 15 youth per session. Space is limited
so register today.
