RE: Andy Griggs to Perform at Frederick’s 4th of July

ANDY GRIGGS TO HEADLINE THE COUNTRY STAGE DURING
FREDERICK’S 4th - AN INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Come celebrate our nation’s independence at this year’s Frederick’s 4th - An Independence Day Celebration in Baker Park with this year’s country stage headliner: Andy Griggs. One of Nashville’s most intriguing talents, Andy Griggs takes the stage at 7 PM on Sunday, July 4th!
Since the release of his first RCA album You Won’t Ever Be Lonely in 1999, the Louisiana native has confounded label-assigning critics, moving easily from firecracker country-rockers like “I’ll go Crazy” and “You Made Me That Way” to heartstring-plucking romantic ballads like “She’s More” and “You Won’t Ever Be Lonely”. Andy Griggs likes the sounds of “Outlaw Country”, but he is steeped in gospel music. He was trained in bluegrass, but co-writes songs with Tom Keifer, of the heavy-metal group Cinderella.
Andy Griggs has toured with country superstars like Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson and Hank Williams, Jr. In 1999, Andy’s song “You Won’t Ever Be Lonely” was a number one hit and made him the only new male artist to reach to reach the top of the charts with his first release since 1995. Andy was named “Best New Male Country Artist of 1999” by RADIO & RECORDS and BILLBOARD AIRPLAY MONITOR and was honored by his publisher, Sony/Tree, with its “Artist/Writer of the Year Award.” Andy’s performance at this year’s Fourth of July is courtesy of Free Country 99.9 WFRE.
There are several opening acts to prelude Andy’s Griggs performance on the Country Stage. Opening at 1:30 PM is Sarah Locke and the Frednecks. At 3:00 PM, Caballero will perform. Following at 5:00 PM, Sherrie Austin takes the stage. Performances courtesy of Free Country 99.9 WFRE.
This event would not be possible without the generous financial support of the following community-minded businesses: Gold Sponsors - Ausherman Homes, BB&T, Bechtel Foundation, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Farmers and Mechanics Bank, and Sandy Spring Bank; Silver Sponsors - Bank One, CitiMortgage and The Frederick News-Post; Bronze Sponsors - Cellular One, Chessie Federal Credit Union and the Frederick Arts Council.
