RE: Summer Nite Cinema’s Best Dressed Competition
SUMMER NITE CINEMA
Ladies, dig out your saddle shoes and poodle skirts. Guys, dust off your old letterman jackets and slick back your hair. On Saturday, June 19th, The City of Frederick Office of Special Events is turning the clock back to the 1950’s, and we want you there in style.
The fun starts at 7 p.m. at the Baker Park Bandshell as we rev up for a night of drag races and hot rods, pep rallies and sock hops. Show up in your best 1950’s fashions and enter the Best Dressed Competition, or wow your family and friends with your knowledge of the decade during our trivia contest.
Those joining in the fun may walk away with one of several great prizes. The best-dressed competition, slated to take place at 8 p.m., will let popular vote determine male and female winners in three categories: adult (18 and older), youth (11 to 18) and child (up to age 11). Adult winners can look forward to a gift certificate to Mexicali Cantina, while youth winners will enjoy two free passes to Westview Movies and certificates good for two meals at Chipotle. Our youngest winners will take home complimentary pool passes to Thomas and/or Diggs Pool in Frederick.
Those not quite daring enough to dress up can still be winners. Throughout the pre-movie party our D.J. will be testing how much you really remember about the 50’s with trivia questions. Up to ten winners will take home either a CD, water bottle or Chipotle gift certificate.
Best of all, just for coming and singing-up for a free drawing, you are eligible to win the grand prize of the evening, a gift certificate from Brewer’s Alley. We ask that each family sign up only once. The winner will be announced before the movie, at approximately 8:30 p.m.
The Oldies 106.9 “Hot Rod Dodge”, a 1950 Dodge Wayfarer, will also be on site that evening with more fantastic giveaways.
Plan to stay for the free showing of the PG rated movie “Grease” in Baker Park after the party. The movie is set to begin at approx. 8:45pm. Don’t forget your blankets and lawn chairs! A rain date for the event has been set for Saturday, June 26th.
