LAURIE BERKNER TO PERFORM IN BAKER PARK THIS SATURDAY
Laurie Berkner, one of the hottest names in children’s entertainment today, is performing in Frederick’s own Baker Park this Saturday, July 31st at 7pm. Parents and children alike don’t want to miss this free performance.
Berkner’s trio has performed at high profile events including The White House and on The Today Show, and has been publicized in People Magazine, The New York Times, U.S. News & World Report, The Chicago Tribune and Billboard Magazine. Critics are giving Laurie rave reviews, hailing her as “One of the hippest children’s artists…a free spirit with a wacky wit…Berkner’s a blast.” - Moira McCormick, Family Fun. Many of her songs involve movement, and all of them invite children’s participation. Songs such as “We are the Dinosaurs” allow children to act angry and to feel that they have power, while quieter songs inspire feelings of security and warmth. Laurie’s inventive, playful, and well-crafted songs, as well as her accomplished guitar playing and warm, engaging vocals, stand out among other, often over-produced, children’s fare.
Laurie Berkner is sure to draw in a large crowd so make sure to get there early to get a seat! Videos, CD’s and books will also be available for purchase. Keyote, the Frederick Keys Mascot, will welcome the crowd as the performance opener that evening.
