NEW TAXI CAB RATES FOR THE CITY OF FREDERICK

Frederick, Md. --- Please be advised that the following are the new taxi rates for the City of Frederick. These rates were adopted by the Board of Aldermen and went into effect on Wednesday, June 21st. The following rates must be displayed in placard in every taxi behind the driver’s seat.

· $2.40 start rate.
· $ .10 price increase for every 1/16 of a mile.
· $ .20 price increase for every 20 seconds under 7 m.p.h.
· $4.00 for the first mile.
· $1.60 for every mile after that broken down into 16 increments of $.10 each.
· $1.00 to open trunk.
· $1.50 surcharge for each rider exceeding the first for all fares originating and terminating at the same point.
· No charge for children under the age of two years when accompanying a paying fare.
· Taxicab operators may:
o Charge an additional $3.00 for trips within the city limits when a snow emergency has been declared by the mayor; or
o Double the fare for travel outside of the corporate limits when a snow emergency has been declared by the county or state police.
· A receipt shall be rendered if requested by a passenger.
· Passengers shall pay what is in the fare display of the taxicab meter plus any applicable charges listed above.
· Any tips or gratuities paid shall be at the sole discretion of the passenger.
· Drivers are not required to provide change exceeding $20.00.
