RUNWAY 5-23 REHABILITATION
PROJECT UPDATE
RUNWAY 5-23:
The Contractor finished laying the top layer of finished asphalt on Friday, July 9, 2004. We now have an asphalt runway with a five-inch (5”) depth of asphalt the entire 5,220-foot length of the runway. Weather permitting, the connecting taxiways will be completed on July 13, 2004. We plan to commence airfield markings on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 and expect to complete them by the end of the day on Thursday, July 15, 2004. The airfield lighting is expected to be completed on Thursday, July 15, 2004. We plan to have all of the grading in the Runway Safety Area completed by the end of the day on July 20, 2004, and if the weather continues to cooperate, and all else goes well, we are planning to re-open Runway 5-23 for use on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 21, 2003.
LOCALIZER:
The work associated with the localizer antenna and equipment shelter will be completed by the end of the week of July 12, 2004. The FAA-ANI Eastern Region is scheduled to inspect the work on Friday, July 16, 2004. We have requested that FAA/AF Baltimore make their acceptance inspection also on July 16, 2004. FAA/AF Baltimore has scheduled the Flight Check aircraft for July 22, 2004.
The key to making this schedule is weather. Let’s hope we have it.
