IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, January 22, 2004
The
City of Frederick is pleased to announce the continuation
of a Water Conservation Program aimed at reducing
household water consumption by low- to moderate-income
renters and homeowners.
The purpose of the Water Conservation Program
is to evaluate and identify multi-family housing complexes
that use large amounts of water and then to perform
water conservation measures in each individual housing
unit. Water
conservation measures include the installation of low-flow
showerheads, faucet aerators, and toilet dams; the wrapping
of hot water heaters and insulating of pipes; the installation
of water-saving toilets (where applicable when toilet
replacement is needed); resident/tenant education on
water conservation; and the identification of leaks
and other plumbing problems. In addition to serving multi-family rental housing complexes, the
Water Conservation Program will also serve owner-occupied
housing units and scattered-site rental housing units.
The program is free to residents of Frederick
City who, based upon household size, meet the income-eligibility
requirements listed below.
The
City of Frederick Water Conservation Program
is operated jointly by the City Department of Community
Development and the Frederick Community Action Agency
with funding from the Community Development and Community
Services Block Grants.
For more information or to apply for assistance
from the Water Conservation Program, please contact
Marty Qually, Coordinator of Housing Services for the
Frederick Community Action Agency at 301-360-3966 or
