Second Community Meeting Scheduled for Shared Parking Study
A second community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 31, 2004 to continue discussing the potential development of a shared parking plan for the area bound by West Patrick Street to the north, Jefferson Street to the west, South Street to the south and DeGrange Street to the east. The meeting will take place from 7 - 8:30 PM at the C. Burr Artz Public Library Community Room, 110 E Patrick. The City of Frederick and Downtown Frederick Partnership are jointly sponsoring the meeting.
The West Patrick Street Shared Parking Study is a project identified in the West Patrick Street Neighborhood Revitalization Plan. During 2002, community members expressed ideas and recommendations for improving the West Patrick Street Neighborhood during a series of community meetings held over a nine-month period. The end result of these efforts is an adopted West Patrick Street Revitalization Plan that outlines a series of strategies for improving the West Patrick Street area. The shared parking plan is one of the initial projects identified in the plan for implementation.
At the July 29 meeting, participants shared ideas about increasing the availability of off-street parking in the block bound by West Patrick Street, Jefferson Street, South Street and DeGrange Street. Community members offered several suggestions from alleys to shared parking areas. Since the July meeting, the parking consultant has developed a draft concept plan. Property owners, business representatives and community members are encouraged to attend the August 31 meeting to offer their comments on the draft concept plan.
