Carrabba’s Italian Grill Locating on the Golden Mile

The City of Frederick is excited to welcome Carrabba’s Italian Grill to the Golden Mile. The new restaurant is located at 1315 West Patrick Street and will open its doors to the public at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 23, 2004.

Carrabba’s new location on the Golden Mile will total over 6,300 square feet and bring 100 new jobs to the area.

This represents yet another company locating on the Golden Mile bringing the total capital investment in the area to more than $21 million in just over a year. The Golden Mile continues to reestablish itself as a vibrant corridor in the City – a priority of the City’s Department of Economic Development.

“The opening of Carrabba’s is like fresh Parmesan on a great pasta dish – it’s simple but significant,” says Mayor Dougherty. “ The commitment of the business owners to support the Golden Mile initiative will be rewarded with thousands of devoted customers who are eager to spend their money where they live.”

Founders Johnny Carrabba and Damian Mandola opened the first Carrabba’s in Houston, Texas in 1986. In 1993, a joint venture partnership as formed with Outback Steakhouse, Inc. Under the partnership, ten locations were opened in Houston and Florida. In January 1995, OSI acquired the rights to develop Carrabba’s nationally and Frederick is the 128 th in the nationwide chain. Carrabba’s features Italian specialties made from original family recipes handed down over generations. In keeping with the Carrabba’s commitment to its communities, the new restaurant will donate a generous portion of opening night sales to Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County, MD.
