East Church Street Reconstruction Project Update
Frederick, Md. --- The City of Frederick is reconstructing East Church Street.
This past week the sewer line work was completed on Friday. The delay in completion was due to the rock encountered, which had to be chipped out. Test pits were done early in the week. The results have been analyzed, and they look promising. We are in the process of verifying the data and redesigning the sewer layout, which will be a timesavings, a cost savings and more convenient.
This upcoming week the crew will be moving back down the line, toward Market Street, and connecting the sewer lateral on the north side of the street. Traffic will be routed onto the gravel section, around the work area, as they progress. One tree will be removed as a part of this portion of construction. When the sewer laterals are completed, the crews will begin water main installation.
Outstanding Issues are the brick aprons are still waiting for a cost estimate. This issue will be resolved before sidewalk replacement begins. The arborist has recommended removal of many trees on the street, and new trees for several locations. When funding issues are resolved, the list of the recommendations will be sent to you before any removals or installations take place, except for the ones required by construction. Several sewer laterals are currently running under trees!
