DONEGAL X-PRESS TO PERFORM AT SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
SUNDAY, AUGUST 8TH

Irish eyes will be smiling Sunday, August 8th as The Donegal X-Press comes to Frederick as part of this year’s Summer Concert Series. The band, which has emerged as one of the country’s premier Irish-American roots rock groups, will perform for FREE at 7 PM at Frederick’s Baker Park bandshell.
The Donegal X-Press has been rocking cities throughout Maryland for many years with their unique brand of music. Mixing traditional Irish instruments, melodies and themes with good old-fashioned American rock music, the X-Press have risen above being merely a bar band and have proven themselves to be true artists with a unique vision. The high-energy six-piece group blends a unique combination of traditional Irish music with American country and blues, Latin and Cajun, funk and rhythm. You don’t have to be Irish to realize this band rocks!
DXP is no stranger to the Frederick area. The band got rave reviews when they played at last year’s IN THE STREET festival, and at this year’s Frederick brew fest. It’s also a regular at Bushwaller’s on Market Street.
Make sure you come early for the carillon concert that begins at 6:15 PM. This week’s guest artist is currently University carilloneur at the University of California’s Riverside campus. David Christensen has performed across the county and in Canada during his nearly 20-year career as a carilloneur.
While the concerts are FREE to the public, the Summer Concert Series Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission to each performance. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick City Community Action Agency Food Bank.
The 2004 Summer Concert Series is a sub-committee of Cultural Events for Educating Frederick, Inc., who is supported financially by the following community-minded businesses: Gold Sponsors -Ausherman Homes a Drees Homes Company, BB&T, Bechtel Foundation, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Farmers and Mechanics Bank, and Sandy Spring Bank; Silver Sponsors - Bank One, CitiMortgage, and The Frederick News-Post; Bronze Sponsors - Cellular One, Chessie Federal Credit Union, and the Frederick Arts Council.
