MARYLAND MUNICIPAL LEAGUE “IF I WERE MAYOR” CONTEST WINNER TO READ WINNING ESSAY AT THIS WEEK’S WORKSHOP

Frederick, Md. --- City of Frederick Mayor Jennifer P. Dougherty, the Board of Aldermen, city staff and Frederick citizens will hear first hand what one local 4th grader would do “if she were mayor”! Each year the Maryland Municipal League hosts an essay contests titled, “If I Were Mayor, I Would…”. The contest encourages 4th grade students to be interested in and learn about the role of a mayor in city government.

This year The Banner School is the proud school honored to have one it’s own, Ms. Julie Gillis, selected as the one winner in our district. On Wednesday, Ms. Gillis will attend the Mayor and Board of Aldermen Workshop and read her winning essay.
