Frederick 101 Kids Academy

A educational approach for area youth to learn more about their City government, meet and learn more about their City employees, and best of all-HAVE FUN!  Frederick 101 Kids Academy is a traveling educational program that the City of Frederick can outfit to your participant’s interests, etc.  Frederick 101 is an interactive course for adults interested in learning more about their community.

Frederick 101 Kids Academy is a free program designed to introduce the youth in the Frederick community to the leaders and operations of the City government.  Frederick 101 Kids Academy’s first summer program was a great success!  Learn more about how Frederick 101 Kids Academy can visit your neighborhood, school, or youth organization!

Frederick 101 is free, five-week citizens awareness program, designed to educate residents about City services, City operations, and interesting Citywide issues.  The program is designed to be an interactive tour through the Frederick community and will be lead by the City's Chiefs and Directors and interesting community leaders.

Frederick 101 will provide you with the following:

·               Information about your community;

·               Information on how to get involved and make a difference; and

·              An opportunity to meet your neighbors and interesting classmates.

City elected officials and employees provided area youth hands-on, educational presentations on day-to-day city operations and equipment.  In addition to City based presentations, City employees also provide presentations about their interesting talents, and special extracurricular interests.  When Todd Johnson of the Community Action Agency found out he could volunteer some time to the youth in the community, he answered the call.  Johnson, an avid Revolutionary War Era buff, provided an interactive reenactment for the youth of the Whittier Day Camp program.  The participants really enjoyed Johnson’s traditional garb and Revolutionary War era musket.

The City of Frederick employees would love to work with your neighborhood, school or youth organization to create a Frederick 101 Kids Academy program that will suit your participants needs and interests!
