CITY OF FREDERICK TO TEST ELECTRONIC METERS

Frederick, Md. --- In response to the Comprehensive Parking Study completed by Desman Associates, the City of Frederick is moving to upgrade it's parking meter technology with electronic parking meters. The City of will be installing electronic meters on Thursday, September 25th, in the first block of North Market Street. These meters work the same as existing meters, except patrons will not have to turn a handle for coins to register. These meters are much more accurate in keeping time. Also since there are no moving parts they are expected to be more durable and reliable.

These meters will be used on a trial basis for a three to six months.
