SPILLER JOINS CITY AS TRAFFIC ENGINEER

Frederick, Md. --- The City of Frederick Engineering, Permits and Inspections Department is pleased to announce that Mr. Neil Spiller has joined the staff as the new Manager of Traffic Engineering. Spiller has spent the last 12 years as the Section Head of Traffic and Transportation Planning, Frederick County Department of Public Works, and brings with him an immediate knowledge of the City's and County's streets and traffic concerns. He also has over six years of private consulting experience with a traffic engineering firm in Washington, D.C.

As the City's Manager of Traffic Engineering, Spriller will spend his day-to-day time as a traffic engineer, as well as addressing citizen concerns. He will also chair of the City's newly formed Traffic Safety Committee. This committee is charged with coordinating larger traffic issues as necessary with the Planning Department, Police Department and Department of Public Works.

Paul Lee, director of engineering for the City of Frederick, introduced Spiller this morning at Mayor Dougherty's weekly news conference. Lee stated, "We are excited to have Neil join our staff and are confident he will be instrumental in solving the City's traffic problems." Lee also added that Spiller's pre-existing familiarity with the City, County and State Highway Administration will be an invaluable asset.

Spiller is married, with three children. He resides in Silver Spring, Md.
