Frederick, MD. --- The Weinberg Center for the Arts is proud to present Squonk Opera’s Inferno, which will be appearing Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. Squonk is based on the writings of Danté’s Inferno section of The Divine Comedy and is set in the Appalachian coal town of Centralia, PA, where a mine fire simmers. This opera combines revolutionary projection puppets with the aural beauty and visual wit. The live musicians perform an original score with both acoustic instruments and electronic instruments. This opera is a revolutionary show that shatters the boundaries of traditional theater music with a full-scale modern rock opera.
