OPEN HOUSE FOR TALLEY FITNESS CENTER SCHEDULED FOR

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 9 A.M. – 1 P.M.

Official Ribbon Cutting at 9 a.m.

Frederick, Md. --- In just over a week the City of Frederick’s Recreation Department will open the Talley Fitness Center. The fitness center, located on the lower level of the William R. Talley Recreation Center, has been under construction for almost a year. An official ribbon cutting will take place on Saturday, November 15, at 9 a.m., followed by an open house from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Throughout the day the facility will be open free of charge with tours, fitness demos, arts and crafts demos, free membership giveaways, and more. Key 103.1 will also be broadcasting LIVE between 9 – 11 a.m.

The total cost of renovations is $3.1 million dollars. All improvements and renovations were a result of recommendations from a feasibility study that was completed in 1994. Improvements and additions to the rec center include; a new HVAC system for the entire building, ADA compliant elevator, new stairwell, new lighting for gymnasium, removal of old boilers, asbestos abatement, and additional bathrooms and offices. The lower level will serve as the fitness center.

The new gym features:

· Cardiovascular Equipment --- treadmills, ellipticals, stairmasters, recumbent and upright bikes

· A variety of strength equipment (circuit training)

· Free weight area

· Stretching area

· Men's/women's locker rooms w/showers

· Babysitting area with convenient hours of use

· Masseuse (extra charge)

· Yoga (extra charge)

· Classroom and multi-purpose rooms

Hours of Operation (excluding holidays):

Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Saturday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday 1 – 5 p.m.
